Build your first board packet

From signing in to a finished packet, whether your books are in QuickBooks or not.

A packet is one month's board report: a one-page summary, a slide deck and a full report, all built from your own books. The first one takes a few minutes; after that, a new month is mostly choosing the month.

  1. Sign in. The first-run steps ask for your organization's name and the month your fiscal year starts.
  2. Choose how your figures arrive: connect QuickBooks Online, or upload reports from any accounting system. See QuickBooks or uploads.
  3. On the Data step, choose the month the packet is about. Connected books come across on their own; for uploads, add each report the step asks for.
  4. Confirm the account mapping. CanopyDecks proposes which line of the packet each account rolls up to; check it once and it is remembered for next month.
  5. Build the packet. The dashboard shows it, with written commentary arriving a moment after the figures.

Everything on the packet can be arranged: which figures are pinned at the top, which sections appear and in what order. Those choices are saved for the company, so next month's packet opens the way you left this one.
